Just a few movies watched recently and only 1 was on my "need to watch list" .

From South Africa, 1981s

Yeah....no. I watched it until the end, which is the rule of my challenge, but it was a very uncomfortable 110 minutes. Apartheid, colonialism, racism get pushed aside in an attempt to make a quaint movie about a Coca Cola bottle falling from the sky into the desert. To put it into simplistic terms.

2023's
This was lovely, simply lovely. Needed some tissues near the end. In it's simplest concept, it is a movie about first love. But it is so much more than that. It's intimate and looks at what happens when the rose coloured glassed get taken away. When sentiment gets replaced with reality.

1966s
Interesting B movie starring Stephen Boyd who played Messala in 1959s and yep, that is . Schlocky story about an egotistical no hoper, a man used to chewing up and spitting out his friends. A man who rises to Hollywood fame but gets his comeuppance on Oscar night. Kurt Douglas's 1952 was much better.

Perley Poore Sheehans novel Woman of the Pyramid dates from 1914. A time travel love story with past lives, ghosts, Egyptology. A modern occult investigator gets involved with a queen of ancient Egypt. Very entertaining pulp adventure/romance.

Il caso ha voluto che vedessi e a distanza di 24 ore. Il mio giudizio sostanzialmente lo stesso di quello maggioritario nelle recensioni: un film stiloso vs. un piccolo capolavoro. Ma forse si potrebbe anche dire che il secondo il frutto del seme gettato dalla di qualche anno fa.

Yesterday I watched with my girlfriend. By the end of the movie she was crying, she then spent 30 minutes ranting about why the movie shouldn't have ended it how it did. Funny thing is, this was exactly the way I reacted the first time I watched it

Long story short, it's a great film, you should watch it.

I watched Past Lives with my wife.

A very quiet, sometimes overlong movie with beautiful images and beautiful music. I'm going to let the story itself sink in overnight.

My wife hates the movie.

Film review: Past Lives - Celine Song

got a Golden Glove nomination for Best Actress in a Film (Drama) but lost to Lily Gladstone for her performance in " Killers of the Flower Moon."

Greta didn't get an Oscar nomination because the Oscars has only 1 category for Best Actress, while the Golden Globes has 2 for Drama & Musical in Film , as well as fewer nomination slots.

So, the odds of a Oscar nom were against her.

FWIW, I think Gladstone will beat out Emma Stone for the Oscar too
